Ikechi Emenike, Nyerem Anyim trade tackles over Abia APC

A former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2015 general elections in Abia State, Dr. Nyerere Anyim has slammed the Secretary of the APC National Convention Committee on Strategy, Contact and Mobilization, Chief Ikechi Emenike over alleged negative tendencies which culminated to his outright suspension by the leadership of the party in the state.

DAILY POST recalls that the Abia leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had at its expanded caucus meeting last Thursday, re-affirmed the suspension of Chief Ikechi Emenike from the party.

The expanded caucus which had in attendance major stakeholders of the party in the state was chaired by the Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah.

According to the party, Chief Emenike has already been suspended by his ward for anti-party activities while the Local Government and State Executive respectively ratified the sanction.

Ogah, who chaired the expanded caucus, put Emenike’s suspension to voice vote after it was announced by the state chairman of the party, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, and the caucus overwhelmingly affirmed it.

However, Nyerere Anyim, who is currently the Commissioner representing Southeast zone in the National Pension Commission (PENCOM), in an interview with journalists in Umuahia, on Wednesday, frowned at the continued negative activities of Emenike aimed at thwarting every chance of the party and its overwhelming acceptability in the state.

He recalled that right from the first outing of the party in 2015, Chief Emenike’s machinations had never yielded nor contributed to the development of the party, alleging that the party chieftain had made himself a tool to destroy whatever gains APC has made in Abia state.

According to the former Southeast zonal Vice-chairman of the APC, “every well-meaning Abian particularly APC members should know that the APC Abia is a unique agro that is structured on unity, equity and justice. But unfortunately, the trend will witness in 2015 when an interloper, Ikechi Emenike, came and started running a parallel structure just to distract the party. The same thing repeated in 2019 during the Governorship election, and now too, is he’s rearing his ugly head.

“And that character has not contributed anything to the development of the party, rather has made himself a tool to destabilize and destroy whatever gains that APC has made in Abia state. But to the glory of God, I don’t think he will succeed this time, because he had never succeeded. He didn’t succeed in his evil enterprise in 2015. He didn’t succeed in 2019, and by God’s grace, he will not succeed in 2021. Because it is only a fool that does this same thing repeatedly and expects to get different results.

“And he will continue to get this same results. One day, one thing will surely actually find him out if he had been deceiving the national leadership of the APC over the years. I think this time around he has danced naked in the market. The national leadership have seen, especially for those who don’t know him before, what his motive is, that is causing trouble to curry relevance”.

Anyim further commended members of the All Progressive Congress in Abia for exhibiting political maturity in the face of the provocation by Emenike who described as an interloper during the party Congresses.

“I want to commend them the way they conducted themselves during these Congresses. There was no issue of fight anywhere inspite of the provocation from some quarters. They comported themselves, shown political maturity. I urge Abia people in general, let them look at the way APC is growing in Abia state, I think, it is one of the fastest growing party in the southeast Nigeria. In Abia chapter of APC, you can see the calibre and quality of people joining the party, we should embrace it with positive zeal, and come 2023 the government house is waiting for the APC.

Similarly, Nigerian Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah has called out some self acclamied leaders of the imaginary faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia state.

Dr. Ogah warned them to put under control their orgy of madness and insisted that there is only one constitutionally recognized leadership of All Progressives Congress in Abia state led by Hon. Donatus Nwankpa.

The Minister who doubles as a chieftain of the APC gave the warning while dismissing a socal media report by the factional chairman of Abia APC, Enyinnaya Harbour, linking his name to the crisis in the party in the state.

It was contained in a press statement issued to journalists in Umuahia, on Wednesday, by Demian Igbokwe, the Special Adviser on Special duties to the Honorable Minister.

While wondering what brought about his name in the desperate attempt by a few feather-weighted individuals to lay claim to the leadership of the party in Abia, Ogah in the statement, posited that the Donatus Nwankpa-led State Executive Working Committee remained the only organ of the All Progressive Congress chosen by the people and recognised by all levels of the party hierarchy.

According to him, “This group of Executive members which had led the party through thick and thin, including when the party had nothing much to offer for services rendered on its behalf. Nwankpa-led Executive committee has acquitted itself justifiably in the eyes of the entire APC faithful in Abia State.

He queried, “What then is the justification for an Enyinnaya Harbour, who is known not to possess the ability or political clout to win any election even in his ward to begin to lay claim to being factional chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia State? Is there no limit to madness? Or must all manner of stupidity be displayed to the world in the name of politics?

Continuing, Ogah stated, “if not for misleading politicians like Ikechi Emenike and a handful of co-travellers in his tour of mischief, where would the like of Enyinnaya Harbour muster the confidence and courage to put himself across to discerning minds as factional chairman of Abia APC, when he knows that Emenike, the state mischief maker-in-chief and his benefactor, has with the aid of funds provided by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State continued to instigate crisis to destabilise our party?

The APC stalwart however described the allegation as spurious and riddled with falsehoods from the pit of hell, adding that Ikechi Emenike who was earlier suspended by the leadership of Abia APC is one instigating imaginary trouble just to accord himself relevance.

Meanwhile, the suspended Party chieftain and the Secretary of the APC National Convention Committee on Strategy, Contact and Mobilization, Chief Ikechi Emenike, has described his reaffirmation by his purported suspension by the Nwankpa-led Executive committee and party members of the caucus as vituperations of drowning men as the pendulum has just swung against them.

In his reaction which was contained in a statement, Chief Emenike recalled that the party’s national leadership had invalidated and put paid to the rumoured suspension of Chief Emenike, urging party members and teeming supporters to disregard the rantings.

He stated, “you will recall that the purported Suspension first hit the media in September 2018 on the run-up to the 2019 elections and resurfaced again in May 2021.

“It is pertinent to note that these same diminutive featherweights had in September 2018 recanted on their delusional suspension so issued against High Chief Ikechi Emenike, leader of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State in a widely publicised local online news media forum.”
