The USFL is the most recent spring start-up league, with its inaugural season set for 2022.
The USFL league will consist of eight teams that will compete in a 10-week regular season and a two-week postseason to crown a champion.
Is the USFL a new league?
The USFL is relatively new, though not wholly so.
The USFL used to exist, but it disbanded in 1985 and is making a comeback in 2022.
Despite the fact that the new USFL is unrelated to the previous USFL, its objective is substantially the same.
The USFL league wants to fill the hole during the NFL offseason when there is little action by hosting live football games.
As previously stated, the new USFL bears no resemblance to the prior USFL, which existed from 1983 to 1985.
However, it owns the previous league’s trademarks, which explains why the eight teams are named after former USFL teams and have similar — and in some cases, identical — logos.
Who owns the United States Football League (USFL)?
Fox Sports, along with NBC’s family of networks, owns a minority share in the news USFL and will broadcast all of the league’s games (NBC, USA and Peacock).
