Early Years

Logan Alexander Paul was born in Westlake, Ohio, on April 1, 1995. Jake Paul, his younger brother, is also a social media sensation. Logan began making YouTube videos when he was ten years old, through a channel he created called Zoosh.

 

In 2012, he was an All-Star linebacker for Westlake High School football. In high school, he was a state champion wrestler and went on to Ohio University to study engineering. Between 2013 and 2014, he grew his social media following from 900 to 1.5 million. He was particularly well-known on the social media platform Vine. In 2014, he dropped out of Ohio University to relocate to Los Angeles.

 

Career

Within 24 hours of its release, the video had 6.3 million views. Several online petitions urging YouTube to remove Paul’s channel were created. On January 1, 2018, Paul took the video down from his YouTube channel and issued a written apology via Twitter. On January 9, YouTube issued a statement condemning Paul’s video via their Twitter account. Paul’s channels were removed from YouTube’s preferred ad programme, Google Preferred, on January 10. Paul was also fired from the “Foursome.” YouTube Red series. Paul donated $1 million to suicide prevention organisations in the aftermath.

 

Other Dissensions

In early February 2018, YouTube suspended all advertising on Paul’s channels due to his “pattern of behaviour.” Paul’s participation in the Tide Pod Challenge, the time he took an out of his pond to “jokingly give it CPR,” and the time he videoed himself using a taser gun on two dead rats were all mentioned on YouTube.
