Young women living in Soweto faced a lack of viable career possibilities, since apartheid restricted them to two options: being a maid or working in a factory. Patricia Noah discovered a third way out of a hopeless circumstance. She enrolled in secretarial and typing lessons.
Following that, she was hired as a secretary at ICI. She worked there for a time but moved to Johannesburg shortly thereafter due to her dissatisfaction with her residence.
Patricia Nombuyiselo, Noah’s mother, married Ngisaveni Abel Shingange in 1992; they had two kids together, Andrew and Isaac.
Shingange brutally attacked her when she attempted to flee from him.
Patricia underwent years of agony, having suffered the hardest blows of childhood, Apartheid, and terrible relationships.

Patricia was shot multiple times during their divorce and narrowly escaped death in 2009. Shingange, her ex-husband, shot her in the back of the head and in the leg.
She was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
