Bashar Barakah Jackson, professionally known as Pop Smoke, was an American rapper, singer and songwriter. He was born on July 20, 1999, in Brooklyn, New York, to Audrey Jackson and Greg Jackson.
Jackson attended nine different schools while growing up in Canarsie, Brooklyn. He played the African drums in his local church as a child. He was expelled from eighth grade for bringing a gun to school and spent years on house arrest after being charged with possessing a weapon.
Pop Smoke began music in 2018 when visiting Brooklyn recording studio with fellow rapper, Jay Gwuapo. In 2019, he signed to Victor Victor Worldwide a subsidiary of Universal Music. On April 23, 2019, he released his breakout single, Welcome to the party that was produced by 808Melo. On February 7, 2020, Pop Smoke released his second mixtape, Meet the Woo 2, with features from Quad, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Fivio Foreign and Lil Tjay.

How did Pop Smoke die?
On February 19, Pop Smoke was shot and killed at the home he was renting in the Hollywood Hills. According to reports, four suspects in hoodies, including one wearing a mask and carrying a weapon, entered the house and fatally shot the rapper. He was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical centre in Los Angeles, where he died a few hours later.
