SA Riots: SASSA Announce Temporary Suspension of Cash Paypoints

The South African Social Security Agency’s (SASSA) has chosen to temporarily halt giving beneficiaries cash payment .

This follows ongoing fights in KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng, which have disturbed the activity of certain organizations and businesses operating in that area.

Various money Cash-In-Transit (CIT) organizations and companies have stopped their cash administrations, because of the fights, and this has straightforwardly negatively affected SASSA.

The organization depends on CIT companies to give money to its paypoints, however now that cash conveyance services have been suspended, beneficiaries won’t be able to access cash from the various paypoints.

SASSA has guaranteed beneficiaries that this will be transitory and not permanent, and the organization will resume services and cash payment once the violent calms down.

“Beneficiaries are asked to keep calm and anticipate correspondence with regards to when the installment at pay focuses will continue.”

SASSA CEO, Totsie Memela, has asked beneficiaries to not be too worried meanwhile, as installments will be made when the circumstance is settled.

While cash paypoints are not working, beneficiaries are permitted to utilize their cards to purchase products from merchants or to get cash from ATMs.

“However, beneficiaries are urged to ensure that it is safe for them to frequent any of these alternative facilities and to follow the COVID-19 protocols at all times.”
