Sania Mirza was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, to Imran and Naseema Mirza on November 15, 1986. Her father worked in construction, and her mother ran a printing business. She has a younger sister.
Her true ambition was to become a professional tennis player, so she began competing in India after graduating from St. Mary’s College. She began competing in ITF tournaments in 2001 and won three titles the following year, solidifying her status as a rising star.
