Shay Carl is an American blogger and YouTube personality with an estimated net worth of $25 million. Born in Logan, Utah, Shay Carl was raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and Pocatello, Idaho. After completing a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints overseas, he returned to the United States and began working various jobs, such as DJing and installing countertops.

In 2007, he launched two of his three YouTube channels, “shaycarl” and “SHAYTARDS” which are now viewed by millions. Philip DeFranco, a well-known online personality, suggested to his followers/subscribers that they check out “SHAYTARDS” which resulted in a meteoric increase in interest in his channels. He subsequently co-founded Maker Studios. Together with his wife, he produces a weekly podcast entitled “When the Kids Go to Sleep” He and his wife conduct interviews with prominent figures from around the globe. Multiple awards have been bestowed upon him, including “Best YouTube Channel or Personality” from the 2009 Open Web Awards. Carl and Corey Vidal collaborated in 2016 to produce a documentary titled Vlogumentary. Shay co-authored the 2015 self-help book Fat Dad, Fat Kid with his son Gavin. After allegations of sexual messages with an adult cam model and his self-described struggle with alcoholism, he announced in 2017 that he was leaving YouTube and suspending his Shaytards channel for one year. Carl also won the 2014 fourth Streamy Awards Icon Award in the category of entrepreneurship. His web series appearances include The Station, The Annoying Orange, No Ordinary Family, MyMusic, Wonder Quest, and Studio C. In 2003, he married Colette Butler, and he has five children. Shaycarl documented on his ShayLoss channel that he lost over 100 pounds and ran three marathons in a single year. Additionally, Carl has worked as a school bus driver and in radio.
