Biography of Steve Coogan

Steve Coogan has a net worth of $12 million as a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer/producer. Steve Coogan’s net worth is derived from his writing, producing, and acting in film and television. He began his career in 1988 in Middleton, Lancashire, England.

Stephen John “Steve” Coogan (born 14 October 1965) is a comedian, actor, writer, and producer based in the United Kingdom. Born in Greater Manchester’s Rochdale district (then Lancashire). He began his career as a stand-up comic and impressionist, later working as a voice artist on the satirical puppet show Spitting Image during the 1980s. Coogan began creating original comic characters in the early 1990s and presented them in stage shows, earning him the 1992 Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe for his show with longtime collaborator John Thomson. At this time, the most prominent characters he created were Paul Calf, a stereotypical lower class Mancunian, and his promiscuous sister Pauline (played by Coogan in drag).

Coogan developed his most popular and developed character, Alan Partridge, while working with Chris Morris, Patrick Marber, and Armando Iannucci on On The Hour and The Day Today. Alan Partridge is a socially awkward and politically incorrect regional media personality who went on to star in his own eponymous television series, Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge and I’m Alan Partridge, which were well received and received a total of five BAFTA nominations. Coogan is best known outside the United Kingdom for his roles in 24 Hour Party People, The Wind in the Willows, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Night at the Museum, Tropic Thunder, Hamlet 2, A Cock and Bull Story, The Trip, and The Other Guys.

On 22 November 2011, Coogan and Hugh Grant testified before the Leveson Inquiry into phone hacking, arguing in favor of press regulation.

Coogan is one of seven children born to homemaker Kathleen (n’ee Coonan) and IBM engineer Anthony Coogan. He was born in his parents’ home and raised in an Irish working-class family in Alkrington, a suburb of Middleton north of Manchester. Coogan was brought up in a Roman Catholic household. He grew up in a happy family with four brothers and two sisters, and his parents also fostered children.

Private Life:

Steve Coogan married Caroline Hickman in 2002, but the couple divorced after three years. He is now a resident of Brighton, close to his daughter Clare, whom he fathered with solicitor Anna Cole. He is a staunch Labour Party supporter. Throughout his career, he has battled the tabloid press, which he has found to be extremely intrusive and aggressive. He was one of the celebrities targeted in the News of the World phone hacking scandal and later testified at the Leveson Inquiry as a witness.
