Trey Anastasio is a musician from the United States who has a net worth of $85 million. He is well known as the lead singer for the band Phish. Since co-founding the band in the mid-1980s, he has composed more than 150 songs for the group. Outside of his work with Phish, Anastasio is a well-established vocalist and composer who has collaborated with several musicians on a variety of projects.

Ernest Joseph “Trey” Anastasio III was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 30, 1964. When he was three, his family relocated to Princeton, New Jersey, where he was reared alongside his sister by successful parents. His father was a senior vice president at Educational Testing Service, while his mother was a successful novelist and editor at Sesame Street Magazine.


Anastasio attended public schools during his formative years, but ultimately graduated from a private institution. During his private school years, Trey met Steven Pollak (the Dude of Life), who assisted him in the creation of a lot of Phish tunes.


Anastasio attended the University of Vermont, where he studied philosophy, after completing high school. Trey met numerous future Phish members during his undergraduate years, including Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon, and Jeff Holdsworth. This group of buddies began performing at the campus cafeteria for the first time in 1983. However, audience members did not always give the band a warm response.


Trey returned to New Jersey at one point and reconnected with his boyhood buddies Tom Marshall, Marc Daubert, and Page McConnell. These individuals would eventually join Pish as well. Trey also worked with Ernie Stires, who taught him a variety of musical abilities. Anastasio graduated from college in 1988, but he had transferred to Goddard College by then.

Trey was handed a reduced felony drug conviction and sentenced to complete a 14-month program consisting of drug tests, community service, and rehabilitation after pleading guilty. His conviction was reduced to a misdemeanor when he completed this program. Since 2007, Anastasio has been abstinent.


In 2015, it was announced that Trey was selling his Palisades, New York property for $2.995 million. In 2009, he paid $2.7 million to actress Lorraine Bracco for the mansion, which is located in the upscale area of Snedens Landing. The residence is located on the Hudson River and is directly adjacent to 2,500 acres of riverfront parks. It is only 25 minutes from New York City. The residence boasts a beautiful rocky cove on the Hudson River. In addition, there are three bedrooms and 2,121 square feet of living space.


In 2018, it was reported that Anastasio was still attempting to sell the home and had reduced the asking price by $700,000. Later in 2018, Trey agreed to a price of $1.83 million, so taking a substantial loss. In fact, the ultimate selling price was about $1 million less than what he purchased for the property almost ten years ago. In addition, Trey has a co-op condominium in New York’s Central Park West, which he purchased for $2.6 million in 2006.


Additionally, he owns a rural property in Burlington, Vermont, which doubles as a rehearsal and recording studio.
