Biography of Victoria Azarenka 

Born in Minsk, Byelorussian SSR, Soviet Union, Victoria Azarenka began playing tennis as a child. She then relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona for training, and began her junior professional career in 2003. By the end of 2005, she was ranked first in the world among juniors and had won two junior Grand Slams.

Soon after, she moved up to the senior level and has rapidly risen through the ranks. In doubles competition, she has reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon and the finals at the Australian Open and French Open. She has won the French Open, the US Open, and the gold medal at the London Olympics as a mixed doubles player.

As a singles player, she has twice reached the French Open quarterfinals, twice reached the Wimbledon semifinals, twice reached the US Open final, and twice won the Australian Open. She was also the 2012 Olympic bronze medalist.
